Bowl For Kids Sake Campaign Recap (by Leila Bautista)
Bowl For Kids has come to a close, and we are blown away with the enthusiasm and support we have received from the community! Heading “back to the alley” to rebuild our signature fundraiser was crucial after 3 years of the pandemic – as it typically raises 10-15% of our annual budget that is needed to support local youth mentorship programs. This year, we SURPASSED our fundraising goal and it is all thanks to everyone who supported our cause!
On May 28th, Bigs and Littles joined us at the bowling alley to celebrate the campaign by engaging in contests, bowling bingo, winning prizes, having pizza, and of course – doing lots of bowling! With music and K8 Milton from Move 100, as our wonderful emcee for the afternoon, the event was enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the matches’ faces and see a group of them come together for our first big event since the start of the pandemic. It reminded us all that the special moments they have together are why we do what we do!
June 2nd was the Bowl For Kids Sake Corporate event. We had 40 corporate teams come out to show their support. Sponsors and teams brought great energy as they bowled the night away, won great door prizes, and enjoyed the pizza. The emcee’s for the evening, Amateur Alex and Turk from 101.3 Virgin Radio kept everyone engaged, and we had former Big Brother Corey and Big Sister Jena share their heart-warming mentoring experiences with everyone. Corporate teams got a chance to connect with one another and the community after many years of social separation.
Our youth mentorship programs are made possible by the support of community members, and we thank them for their generosity. On behalf of Big Brothers Big Sisters, thank you to everyone who helped make these two successful events happen so that we can continue to make matches and #IgnitePotential in local youth! We look forward to next year’s campaign.
