HOW IT WORKS
When applying for our programs, a Little must be at least 7 years old.
An Enrollment Coordinator will work with you and your child to review your situation and determine how a mentor would be of benefit. Factors that would be considered regarding your child’s needs include:
- Parent or guardian support
- Adult involvement other than the parent(s) or guardian(s)
- Peer relationships
- School performance
- Involvement in community activity
- Living environment
- Ability to form and maintain a healthy, safe relationship
- Ability to perform self-care
If your child meets the above criteria, please complete the Child Inquiry Form as a first step in enrolling in our programs.
Important Update: Little Enrolment Temporarily on Hold
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax is currently experiencing exceptionally high demand for our one to one mentoring programs. At this time, a significant number of children and youth are already waiting to be matched, and many others are actively moving through the enrolment process.
Due to limited organizational resources and our commitment to providing safe, high quality, and well supported mentoring relationships, we have made the difficult decision to pause the intake of new Little enrolments. This pause is in place to ensure we can appropriately support the children, families, and volunteers already engaged with our programs.
During this period, we are also reviewing and improving our enrolment processes, including the development of a fully digital application experience designed to be more accessible and efficient for families and caregivers.
At this time, the reopening of Little enrolment is on hold indefinitely, and we are unable to confirm when new applications will resume. Updated information will be shared on this page as it becomes available.
